Goal setting is the land mark you pass along the way as you rise to the vision. We must be able to see where we are going if we plan to arrive there. The purpose of a person’s life is detailed in the things that he sees, but can you get there? The ability to blueprint how to arrive there and execute it will determine if you can go from average to dynamic.
Poverty to extreme wealth is about the same; its what a person sees that they inevitably become. There is no shrinking from this mystery or trying to avoid it. We must know that our own hearts hold the keys to our powerful self. There are versions two of you, in which you must choose one.
There is the mediocre you that simply takes what is given to him or her and then there is the other you that very few people ever tap into in this lifetime. The first version of you lives simply off the expectations of those around you. Your employer, friends and relatives who don’t want you to really exceed or excel but would rather watch you stay in the same position that they are in. Many times as a result of this negativity we hold ourselves back in order to fit in better and not create any waves. We do as we are told, we get what we are expected to get. We wonder what life would be like if we could attain our dreams.
We see dreaming as almost sinful and don’t really allow ourselves to become that dream. It looks like a good idea but the challenges that stand between us and the alternate lifestyle are too daunting. We see our own limitations, we see the struggle. We see the problems more often than we see the positive . As a consultant I have talked to too many people who have a dream and they will ask me for advice and then adamantly defend why they actually cannot attain their own dream.
The other you is fearless and limitless, and has no bounds other than time and space, but even that should be challenged. In turn this version of you crawls and claws to get the things that you can see in your mind. You refuse to let anyone hold you back. A lot of these people know what it is to be lonely as they have had to brave the wilderness alone. Leaving friends, neighborhoods, jobs and even sometimes family in order to pursue the things that really count.
The Vision is seared so deeply into your consciousness that sometimes the world you actually live in is blurry. It’s blurry because it is dissolving and the place envisioned is becoming your reality.
What are you staring at? Have you developed your vision to the place that it has taken over and you are able to live in a fullness of purpose and your limitless potential is guiding you to the place of your dreams? My question is which YOU is winning and what do you see.
